It’s great to be motivated, but it’s hard to STAY motivated! When motivation is low, a strategy will keep things going with the procedures & systems you've put in place! What if you thought about focusing on being strategic, NOT motivated!
We all spring into action when we’re motivated, but once it dies off we tend to stand still, that’s why you need a strategy! Before you dive into your strategy, your HOW, I need you understand your WHY. You’re WHY is your motivation, but that alone won’t get you to where you need or want to go.
Be clear on the difference between motivation & strategy.
Motivation: “The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving a particular way”.
Once you’re clear on your WHY, now you have the reason or reasons you want to ACT or BEHAVE in a particular way. Now let's figure out the particular way you want to act or behave; that's called figuring out your STRATEGY!
Strategy: “A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim”.
"Sound strategy starts with having the right goal"
In the end its not a matter of motivation, it’s a matter of strategy. You can have ALL the reasons in the world (motivation), but if you don’t have an effective strategy in place, chances are you won’t get the results you’re looking for.
Execute your strategy! Actions are better than ideas. Don't wait for the perfect idea or strategy to come, experiment, take actions & adjust your strategy while executing them! That's where your growth will come from, in the middle of that process, struggle, battle & chaos is where innovation is born. During this process you'll realize you don't need to be highly motivated all the time, you simply need to be strategic!
